Clubhouse is a great tool to network from the comfort of your home.
With the spread of Covid-19 – gone are the happy hours and local meet-ups where you would mix and mingle. That isn’t to say that networking is now another vibe and that your approach had to change.
As we need new ways to connect with people online Clubhouse is the new platform you should consider joining.
If you don’t know the platform, or you are not sure how to use it to grow your network – just a few tips will get your virtual networking journey much easier.
Let’s start from the beginning… What is CLUBHOUSE?
Clubhouse is the new “drop-in audio app” where your mix and mingle with people – based on common interest – and exchange ideas. It’s like an interactive podcast where you can join the conversation or remain passive. Amazing right?!
How to use Clubhouse to grow your network?
You can see icons with the picture and profile of everyone attending the room (the conference). You can follow them, and interact with them during the conference. It’s all about providing value and seeking advice – which is a great way to start building new connections.
If you want to pursue the conversation and connect on a more personal level, Clubhouse provides direct access to the Twitter and the Instagram of their users. You will also notice that most of the time, people invite you to connect with them on Linkedin.
How to be strategic about it?
1. Begin with a goal
Like everything else in life, you’ll find more success by setting up goals. What do you hope to get out of networking? Are you looking for a job opportunity or career advice? Once you have established your goal, it will guide the networking steps you take and how many hours you’re willing to dedicate toward networking.
2. Expand your pool of connections
You can select your center of interests and join rooms with thought leaders and peers in your industry. You can also join groups dedicated to specific topics where you can forge connections with like-minded people.
3. Share Your Experiences
Join rooms or start your own room and share your expertise. Then create content with what you’ve shared and learned and post it on Linkedin. Clubhouse is also a great way to connect with people – afterwards – on Linkedin. Posting this content will help you build up your personal brand as both a connector and a continuous learner. New connections will see your activity and feel more comfortable scheduling meetings with you.
The best tip of all is to put in consistent effort. You won’t get a lot of networking done if you scroll through social media without a purpose.
Most of us are still in a weird state of workplace evolution, heading toward long-term remote work at home and networking has become a huge need. Don’t isolate yourself, plenty of opportunity awaits you. So keep connecting with people.
