Ever wonder why you don’t get recognized for your hard work?
Here is why your hard work doesn’t pay off and what you need to do instead.
Completing your everyday tasks isn’t enough when it comes to getting noticed and landing a promotion. With everybody in the workplace showing up to complete their daily tasks, what makes you stand out?
In order to get promoted, you must ensure that the right people know who you are, understand the value you bring in and that they are aware of your full potential.
Does this sound familiar?
- You’ve strong expertise and believe your competence has the power to make an impact in your organization and in people’s lives, but you feel stuck.
- You’ve made a lot of sacrifices to get where you are at and feel undervalued and overlooked for leadership positions.
- You’re competent but lack a clear positioning. You don’t know where to get started with personal branding.
- You want to communicate in a way that’s authentic and not hurtful to your professional reputation or the company’s reputation.
- You’re on Linkedin, but don’t use it effectively to grow an audience and play your strengths as a leader.
- At this point you’re wondering what to do to gain recognized for your work and advance into a leadership role. More talks? More sacrifices? More experience?
Here’s one of the main things I help my clients with and why that’s important:
POSITIONING. How do you position yourself to make it happen?
It’s not about who you know but who knows you and if the right people have a clear understanding of your full potential.
You want to ensure that the right people know and appreciate your value, your professionalism, and who you’re as a person.
Positioning yourself is one of the most important strategies when developing your professional reputation. It is a critical component of brand strategy because it’s important to know where you fit within your organization, in your industry and among your competitors.
What’s the point of having a personal brand (messaging, logo, design) if you don’t leverage it strategically to fulfil your ambitions and reach your goals?
A lot of you don’t feel comfortable talking about yourself, showcasing your accomplishments simply because you don’t have a clear and strong positioning.
And that’s one of the main things I help my clients with. And once we have completed this part of the strategy, we move on to developing and AUTHENTIC VISIBILITY PLAN.
Remember, your issue is not a lack of talent but a lack of visibility. This is about leveraging your personal brand and promoting yourself – authentically and effectively – online and in-person.
Once we have developed your Authentic Visibility Plan, you are well equipped to navigate the politics of promotion.
It’s not hard work that will help you get promoted to a leadership role, that’s your strategy and how you leverage your hard work.
Do you currently have the knowledge and game plan to get you there?
