The ONE Thing You’re Not Doing To Improve Your Personal Brand.
When it comes to personal branding, what is actually more important: showcasing your expertise or sharing your story?
Here’s what you are likely not doing?
If you’re like most of my clients, you’re likely not sharing your story. You may be reluctant because you don’t want to share your private life, and I believe you’re right.
Now, sharing your story has nothing to do with sharing your private life. These are two completely different things. And guess what? People are not really interested by what you had for dinner or what’s happening behind close doors.
They want to hear about your ups and downs, the good, the bad and the ugly. How you started, the barriers you overcome, the lessons learned. This is what your story is about.
Here’s what you’re missing:
In fact, the lack of a clear and effective brand story is a missing piece that can hold you back (especially as a female leader) from achieving greatness. It affects your ability to make an immediate rational and emotional connection with your audience.
Discovering your personal brand story or elevating your existing one will not only increase your recognition within your target audience / your industry, but it will also offer consistency and relevancy in the story you tell through your social media platforms. This will inevitably help you build a story that your audience will listen to and engage with. And as a result, amplify your voice, impact and income.
Here’s how I helped a client to use the power of her story to position herself as a thought leader:
She had transitioned from corporate to entrepreneurship and wanted to share her story (being a single mom, running a business and all the challenges and adversity she had to go through from a very young age to finally develop a successful business). She wanted to inspire and encourage other women to dream big.
But she didn’t know where to start, and how much of her story she could inject in her personal brand. How much is too much? So we developed her personal brand story and started creating content around it. And, after 4 months together (my private coaching is a 4-month program) she started to get speaking engagements, award recognitions, more clients for her business. And she grew so much out of it, she had so much of an impact that she decided to run for office.
This is how powerful your story is. Don’t hide it anymore.
Here I’m really hoping to encourage you to use your story to amplify your voice, impact and income. And if that’s something you’re struggling with, then get it touch!
